Ask a Warrior... Version 2.

2007-10-05

For both veteran and beginner players, this thread will allow the many questions you can ask to us warriors and we will gladly answer for you.

Simply state you question, and we will come to the rescue. Please try to keep the questions to the point, relative, not stupid, and has not been asked in this thread before. Remember to brief us in on what you want for your answer, and be at least a little specific. General questions are good, but specific ones are even better.

You can also check with us and your character's stats to see how well your character is going.

Things that could be asked:
Which skills should I max first? (ex: Iron Body, Power Strike, Slash Blast)
Which skills should be added after I advance as a ________?
 Why is hybrid spearman good?
 How does this skill work?
 How good is Rage?
 How useful is Threaten?
Help! I don't know what to do with my skills!
 Are warriors the richest class?
 Which class should I pick?
 What is Power Guard?
How do 3rd Job skills work?
Which weapon is better? Swords vs Axes vs Maces vs Spears vs Polearms?
Where should I train for a lv__??

References

Plug in your stats/weapons to find out the following:

Maximum Base Damage: [(STR*X) + DEX]/100 * Watk
Maximum Damage per 1 Watk: MaxDmg / [(STR*X) + DEX]/100
Maximum Damage per 1 STR: (STR*X)/100
Maximum Damage per 1 DEX: DEX/100

Minimum Base Damage: [(STR*0.9*%*X) + DEX]/100 * Watk
Minimum Damage per 1 Watk: MaxDmg / [(STR*0.9*%*X) + DEX]/100
Minimum Damage per 1 STR: (STR*0.9*%*X)/100
Minimum Damage per 1 DEX: DEX/100

% being your Mastery skill. Convert into decimals. eg: 60% = 0.6.
Watk being the weapon attack of your weapon.
MaxDmg being the maximum damage in your stats-expanded window.
STR being your STR stat.
DEX being your DEX stat.
* being multiply; / being divided by; + being add; [] and () being brackets.

Replace X with the following according to your weapon (max/min):
One-Handed Swords - 4.0/4.0
Two-Handed Swords - 4.6/3.4??
One-Handed Axes/Maces - 4.4/3.6
Two-Handed Axes/Maces - 4.8/3.2
Spears/Polearms - 5.0/3.0

Power Strike: (Base Damage - wdef) * 2.6
Slash Blast: (Base Damage - wdef) * 1.3 (*6)
2.5 wdef = 1 damage reduction; eg: 40 wdef reduces 16 damage.

The Cookie Cutter build for warriors. Basically the build works for Fighter, Page, and Spearman, so it doesn't matter which class you pick, this build works for all warriors and you'll have no problems with it. Reminder to max out Improving Max HP Increase as soon as possible, as it grants you more HP increase per level, making you have lots of HP.

Improving HP Recovery: 5
Improving Max HP Increase: 10 (*important*)
Endure: 3
Iron Body 3
Power Strike: 20
Slash Blast: 20

Accuracy formula (taken from 鍗丏REAM?s thread):

A = ( 55 + (2 x D) ) x ( E / 15 )
--------- or another way to write it ----------
A = ( 55 + (2 x D) ) / 15 x E

A = 100% hit accuracy
D = Monster level minus Your character's level. If this number is negative (meaning your character is higher level than the monster, then use 0)
E = evasion/avoidability of monster.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does Rage/Dragon Blood stack with Drake's Blood/Warrior Potion?
No.

2. Does Iron Body/Iron Will/Bless stack with Iron Body/Iron Will/Bless?
No.

3. Should I use Highlander (Lionheart) or Zard during my 4X levels?
Depends. If you like speed, go for Highlander. If you like slower but slightly more power, go for Zard. If your Highlander is godly scrolled, you can also skip the Lion's Fang in addition to Zard. If your Zard is godly scrolled, then you don't need to use the Highlander.

4. What is Improving HP Recovery?
It's a skill that increases your HP gain per level to a maximum of +40 HP per level. It is important because this skill is what makes warriors have so much HP. Max this as soon as possible.

5. Which is better? Rage or Threaten?
Rage is better.

6. Is Threaten %-based?
No.

7. Which is better? Power Guard or Hyper Body?
Power Guard is better. 1) Hyper Body doesn't reduce potion consumption, 2) Hyper Body doesn't do damage, 3) Hyper Body doesn't heal you when you use it, 4) It's better in parties, 5) If you had 5000 base HP and a monster did 1000 damage, the one with Power Guard will survive and Hyper Body will die by the 8th hit.

8. Should I max both Power Strike and Slash Blast?
Yes.

9. Can I leave my Slash Blast at lv10 to reduce potion usage?
No. You won't care about it at later levels. Lv10 Slash Blast is weak versus lv20 Slash Blast. You'll feel regretful when your fellow warrior friends laugh at you. Crusaders and Knights will still use this skill in 3rd Job.

10. Power Strike sucks. This skill is not worth maxing.
Wrong. In 1st Job, you don't have mastery, which is the reason it sucks right now. Once you get mastery, Power Strike rocks! It is also the main attack of the warrior.

11. What's Mastery?
It increases your minimum damage (your damage gets tighter and more stable, HAS NO EFFECT ON MAXIMUM DAMAGE) and your accuracy increases. It will only work for the specific weapon. Spear Mastery will not work if you have a Polearm in your hand. You wish you had +40 accuracy.

12. What's Hybrid Spearman?
It's the best job. You use both Spear and Polearm. You take advantage of 3rd Job skills. In the long run, it's the best damn path and you should damn well take this before I cut your head off when you ask this question again.
